How to obtain a Real Estate License.
1. You must be honest, truthful and of good reputation.
2. You must be at least 18 years old.
3. You must be sponsored by a licensed Ohio Real Estate Broker.
4. You must not have been convicted of a felony or crime or moral turpitude, adjudge by a court to have violated any civil rights laws regarding real estate within the past two years, or violated any rules of the Ohio Division of Real Estate. If you are found to have done so, you must submit satisfactory proof to the superintendent of Real Estate that you will not violate such laws or rules again.
5. If you were born after 1950, you must have a high school diploma or its equivalent as recognized by the Ohio Department of Education.
6. The state of Ohio requires for course: Real Estate Principles and Practices and Real Estate Law, which are 40 classroom hours each and Real Estate Finance and Real Estate Appraisal, which are 20 classroom hours each. After completion of these courses, send a completed sales exam application, copies of your course certificates and a $49 fee to the Ohio Division of Real Estate to be seated for the state exam. The exam is computerized, and can be scheduled through the Experior Testing Network. There is a $59 fee to Experior to take the exam. Additionally, you must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or its equivalent and obtain sponsorship from a licensed Ohio broker. Upon successfully passing the exam, your licensed will be issued.
7. Pass the State of Ohio Real Estate Salespersons Exam.
